An idea for a painting usually comes from an emotion. It could be the feeling of total joy that I have been given a gift for art or the unparallelled beauty of nature. I then decide what medium could be used to best express that feeling. I work with mostly acrylics and mixed mediums. Their ability to show both hard and soft textures is what I enjoy most. I build layers upon layers to create depth and pay particular attention to conveying the emotion as I work. Whether it is through the layers of color or texture in an abstract, the main process is the same, keep the emotion throughout to communicate the spiritual feelings I have.
